The Balkan Writers Project is inviting established or newly formed creative writing workshops and creative writing projects from around the Balkan region to become a partner in a growing, dynamic organization dedicated to promoting English literary projects and cross border artistic collaborations.  

To Join the Balkan Writers Project:

Participant profile should be:


  • An established or newly formed creative writing workshop or a creative writing project run through a school, university, or cultural institution (i.e. American Corner)

  • Eager to engage with other creative writing groups throughout the Balkans to promote English and positive cross border artistic collaborations

  • Promote multi-group collaborations and individual workshop activities through the project website and social media platforms

  • Contribute ideas and propose projects to grow the Balkan Writers Project and make it a successful, long term organization linking artists across borders through English literary arts   

As a bonus:


  • Member workshops will have their own page on the project website to promote their workshop activities, network with other regional groups, create collaborations with other member workshops, and update activities through blogging and posts on a shared Facebook page.    



The workshops and groups interested in joining the Balkan Writers Project should contact the project director Nathan William Meyer via email with some brief background information.

Projected activities include:


  • An annually published book of original English prose and poetry representing all member creative workshops available in print and e-book versions

  • Original works contributed by member workshops featured in an online literary journal

  • Intercultural artistic exchanges including joint readings, writers’ retreats, and other related activities

  • Online poetography collaborations (poems inspired by photographs) between member workshops and featured on the Balkan Writers Project website

  • Collaborations on additional projects such as audiobooks and podcasts
