Before I Die
Do you love writing? Do you have a bucket list?
Want to participate in an exciting new project, open for all artists
willing to share their dreams? The Balkan Writers Project is looking for talented,
unique voices to be part of Belgrade’s first Before I Die creative writing project and
public event at Mikser House on May 27th.
Before I Die is a global art project that invites people to reflect on their lives and
share their dreams with others by writing them on one of more than
1,000 Before I Die walls in 70 countries around the world.
To learn more about this inspiring art project go to beforeidie.cc.
In Belgrade, the Balkan Writers Project is taking this worldwide artistic event
one step further. We’re inviting storytellers to share their Before I Die dream or desire in a short creative writing text that will be published in a book. This book will be launched at a dynamic public event where writers can share their inspiring words with the public and take part in creating our own Before I Die wall at Mikser House on May 27th.
Guidelines for Participation
How it Works: Texts need to start with “Before I die…” and complete this phrase with one hope, dream, goal, or challenge you have for yourself. Following this opening statement tell us more about this aspiration by considering these questions:
What is this desire/dream?
Where did it come from?
Why is it important to you?
How will you make it happen?
Word Count: Text must be no longer than 150 words max.
Selection & Publication: The editorial committee will select the best creative texts and contact the writers. Selected creative works will be published and free copies will be distributed to writers and audience members at our public event.
Public Event Date: We will hold our public event at Mikser House on May 27th. Writers will be invited to read their Before I Die texts and afterward the audience will be invited to add their own dreams to Before I Die walls which we will make at Mikser House.
If you are passionate about writing and have a dream and a voice to share with others, we want you to be part of this dynamic literary-visual project. Join us!
